Tuesday morning: 3-D RESEARCH workshop with Petra van der Schoot
It has only been a century since the visual arts could be easily divided into the arts of painting and sculpting. Since those days, the number of disciplines and tools available have multiplied and have started influencing each other, making the boundaries between the individual disciplines increasingly diffused. The notion of ‘the artwork’ has been adjusted endlessly. In particular the three-dimensional discipline has become layered and diverse.
During this workshop we will examine the above mentioned layering and multi-disciplinary approach by taking the human body as our point of departure. We will examine the role the human body plays in creating and experiencing three-dimensional situations in sculptures, photographs, installations and by using visual aids and/or texts, sound, movement etc.
We will search for and study examples. Three-dimensional experiments will help us research what appeals most to each of the participants individually. Subsequently we will see what disciplines, tools or materials each of us prefer to work with. This will become the framework for trying to develop our own language and form.
During the entire working period we will discuss how each individual project relates to another and we will work up to a joint presentation to round off the workshop.
